Dear Parents and Guardians:
After careful consideration of the impacts of a custodial strike, we have made the difficult decision to close schools and cancel all programs for students effective Monday, October 7th, should an agreement not be reached this weekend. This would also include the cancellation of before and after care at any of our school locations.
The health and safety of our students and staff must always be our main priority. After much careful consideration we have determined that in the best interest of student safety, the cancellation of classes is the most appropriate course of action. We understand that this decision will greatly impact our families, but we do remain hopeful that a negotiated settlement is reached this weekend and that a strike is averted.
We will communicate with our families as soon as we are made aware of an outcome this weekend. We encourage you to check our board website at www.smcdsb.on.ca for updates as they become available.
